Hershey Middle School 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade Trumpet

Welcome to the Hershey Middle School 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade Trumpet page! These items are recommend by your teacher.

Mouthpiece: Mouthpiece - Most beginner and intermediate instruments are stocked with Bach 7C mouthpieces. While these mouthpieces are extremely accessible for beginners, they do not function well for advancing students. An upgrade in mouthpiece can make a significant difference in a student's sound and technique, as a bigger mouthpiece allows for more efficient utilization of air. The mouthpiece suggestion for intermediate musicians is a Bach 5C, while the mouthpiece suggestion for advanced musicians is a Bach 3C.

Tuning Slide Grease: Being able to move your tuning slides is very important!!

Valve Oil: Blue Juice is the perfered valve oil to use.

Snake Vinyl Coated Wire Nylon Cleaning Brush: To clean the inside of your trumpet.

Brass Mouthpiece Brush: The mouthpiece is very susceptible of build-up from everything that might be in your mouth. Gross. Clean it out regularly. You can do this effectively with a mouthpiece brush.

Trumpet Stand: If the trumpet is being set down on the ground, this is the best way to do so. A stand is great for leaving out at home so you don't have to put your trumpet away in its case between practice sessions!

Straight Mute: Music occasionally calls for the use of a straight mute. HHS has a limited school-owned stock of mutes, but sometimes students prefer to have their own mute. If you purchase one, be sure to place your name somewhere on it!

Berp Buzzing Tool : Used as a tool in high school to practice buzzing. Extremely beneficial to playing and highly recommended!
